qigong for worry & anxiety

at the wing, flatiron (rooftop)

qigong is an ancient chinese practice rooted in chinese medicine that helps clear, balance, and cultivate energy through gentle movement, breath, sound, and visualization; think of qigong as comprising highly specialized forms of active meditation— and a little bit like tai chi.

in traditional chinese medicine, the supportive element for the season of late summer is earth— the element that rules the spleen. the focal point of this workshop will be a practice that helps us energetically release worry and anxiety held in our spleens while simultaneously cultivating openness, fairness, and playfulness.

a short opening talk will introduce the concept of energy work and the benefits of qigong. this will be followed by interactive instruction of practices.

depending on how the group flow unfolds, the latter portion of this workshop may also feature a guided meditation centering self-healing.

please come prepared for journaling, group sharing, and conversation— time permitting— to support our practice and enrich our community.

an awareness of our personal energy and the innate ability to heal ourselves is a human birthright that many of us have forgotten; as such, one of the primary goals of this workshop series is to offer accessible instruction of qigong and basic energy principles to the community.
