qigong is an ancient chinese practice rooted in chinese medicine that helps clear, balance, and cultivate energy through gentle movement, breath, sound, and visualization; think of qigong as comprising highly specialized forms of active meditation— and a little bit like tai chi.
in traditional chinese medicine, the supportive element for the season of spring is wood— the element that rules the liver. our liver tends to hold our anger— often that which we have deeply suppressed. the focal point of this workshop will be a practice that helps us energetically release anger and simultaneously cultivate kindness, with additional practices unfolding from there.
a short opening talk will introduce the concept of energy work and the benefits of qigong. this will be followed by interactive instruction of practices.
please also come prepared for journaling, group sharing, and conversation — time permitting— to support our practice and enrich our community.
an awareness of our personal energy and the innate ability to heal ourselves is a human birthright that many of us have forgotten; as such, one of the primary goals of this workshop series at healhaus is to offer accessible instruction of qigong and basic energy principles to the community.
