qigong is an ancient chinese practice rooted in chinese medicine that helps clear, balance, and cultivate energy through gentle movement, breath, sound, and visualization; think of qigong as comprising highly specialized forms of active meditation— and a little bit like tai chi.
an opening talk will introduce the concept of energy work and the benefits of qigong. this will be followed by interactive instruction of practices.
please also come prepared for group sharing and conversation— time permitting— to support our practice and enrich our community.
a foundational qigong practice, the inner smile is an incredibly simple, powerful, and versatile self-healing technique; meditative visualization serves to transmute low-vibrational energy in our bodies to a higher frequency resulting in a greater sense of well-being mentally, emotionally, and physically.
the core values of this practice focus on:
cultivating self-acceptance, self-compassion, and self-love
transcending the ego, personality, and identified mind
neutrality and non-judgment
connecting with the essential self
recognizing one’s inner divinity
visualization and imagination
faith in possibility
this workshop will include:
theoretical and practical instruction of the technique (with q&a)
guided inner smile meditation (1-3 different versions, time depending)
tips on how to use creativity and improvisation to tailor, adapt, and integrate the practice for individual needs and on-the-go
group conversation (sharing of experiences)
an awareness of our personal energy and the innate ability to heal ourselves is a human birthright that many of us have forgotten; as such, one of the primary goals of this workshop series is to offer accessible instruction of qigong and basic energy principles to the community.
